Isaac was born the end of August 2006. He's now almost 8 months old and weighs nearly as much as Kate (who is almost 3 and on the smallish side). The pictures at the top are the most recent. Keep scrolling down for older ones.

Isaac was born with a moderately severe hearing loss. He was fit with hearing aids at 4 1/2 months and is doing great.
He doesn't always love to wear his hearing aids.He does love to chew on his hearing aids which are not waterproof and he's rusted out several batteries. They are "child proof" so he can't get the batteries out, thank goodness. We are trying to give him lots of sensory input every day and can't wait for the day when he will say his first word. All of the specialists and doctors we've worked with expect that with the hearing aids, he should learn to speak.
We are all learning ASL to help expose Isaac to more language. If you want to learn some basics, the "Signing Time" DVD's are a really easy, fun way to learn. My kids know much more than we do.
We just spent the weekend at a "PIP" (parent-infant-provider) camp at the Utah School for the Deaf and met several other families in similar situations. They also had a panel of deaf adults that was really helpful. The main thing I took away from the camp was how important sign was to these adults and they wished they had learned ASL much earlier and they wished their families could communicate better with them using ASL.
